Social Enterprise Forum – Wednesday March, 9
Summit Public Radio & TV is a great example of a “Social Enterprise.” Even as a non-profit organization, we generate income to support our mission from sources other than donations and grants – mostly by leasing space on our antenna towers to commercial communication businesses. Steve Smith, one of our board members, will be appearing on a panel at the Wednesday, March 9, 2011 Our Future Summit monthly meeting. The topic of the forum is “Social Enterprise: Applying innovative business models and risk capital to solve social problems.” The forum is scheduled from 7:00 to 9:00 pm at the Summit County Community & Senior Center in Frisco. Also on the panel will be Rick Zwetsch, of interSector Partners in Denver, one of the leading...
SPRTV at Summit Co Volunteer Fair
Summit Public Radio & TV was well-represented and well-received at the first-ever Summit County Volunteer Fair on Feb 9, from 4-7 pm in Frisco. This first-ever Volunteer Fair provided a great forum for some 41 local organizations to get the word out about their organizations and solicit volunteers. Highlighted by a new poster-board that not only clearly stated our value proposition, but also listed all of our current FM, HD and DTV offerings. Throughout the Volunteer Fair, we were able to engage many local folk, and answer their questions about what SPRTV does, our relationship to Mountain Public Radio and National Public Radio (and specific NPR stations we broadcast),...
Bald Mountain Trek – Gary & Brian
If you’re curious what the views are like from the ridge on Bald Mountain these days, enjoy the pix below. The boys ride together to a point just up from the Mill, where Brian dismounts and climbs the rest because the trail is too steep for two snomachine riders. It takes Brian about 45 min. to climb to the Electronics Site at 12,800 ft. Gary’s there in less than 5...
