If you’re curious what the views are like from the ridge on Bald Mountain these days, enjoy the pix below. These were taken on Saturday, when Gary, SPR’s VP of Engineering, and Brian, SPR Pack Mule, trekked up to the Electronics Site to install the new KBCO CD promo, and do some proactive maintenance.
Winter treks aren’t taken lightly. Gary drives his snowmachine through the backcountry behind his cabin, and meets Brian at the Emmitt Load “trailhead” on Baldy Road. The boys ride together to a point just up from the Mill, where Brian dismounts and climbs the rest because the trail is too steep for two snomachine riders. It takes Brian about 45 min. to climb to the Electronics Site at 12,800 ft. Gary’s there in less than 5 min.
On this Saturday, the hike up Bald Mountain was particularly stunning. The hoarfrost on the snowfields sparkled like fields of cut glass. Sun so bright it could melt your eyes. And, for a change, no gale force winds.
Anyway, enjoy …
