September 1, 2017 — The Summit Daily ran a full-length article about SPRTV’s need for a new power line and our campaign to fund it.
August 2017 — Breckenridge Creative Arts Magazine recently ran a great profile of SPRTV.
January 19, 2015 — A January 19 Summit Daily article said the following about the Summit Foundation including $50,000 for SPRTV’s power line replacement project in its 2014 Fall grant cycle:
While some organizations apply for grants every year, others only apply in certain years, when they have a project coming up. Such was the case with the Summit Public Radio & TV (SPRTV), a local nonprofit that keeps Summit County connected to the outside world via antenna television and radio signals. The group was awarded a grant that will go toward replacing 3 miles of cable to the station at the top of Bald Mountain.
“We got huge support, I was thrilled,” said Sue Greene, vice president of development for SPRTV, about The Summit Foundation grant. Though it’s only a single part of the fundraising necessary for the project, knowing that it was approved “is pretty amazing,” she said.

We Move Mountains For You
So what does our slogan really mean?
You’ve probably noticed “We move mountains for you” in our new banner at the top of this blog. Some of you have asked what it means …
If SPRTV didn’t exist, the 9 FM/HD radio stations and all 7 free, over-the-air antenna TV stations we provide wouldn’t make it into Summit County because the surrounding mountains block their signals.
So in essence, we moved the mountains out of the way so you can enjoy more FM/HD radio and free, over-the-air antenna TV programming in Summit County.
Thanks to your support we can continue to keep those pesky mountains out of the way. Summit Public Radio & TV is a member supported, all volunteer, not for profit organization, serving the Summit County, Colorado mountain community since 1988.
Of course, we’ll move the mountains back when you want to hike, mountain bike or snowride!
KUNC Back On The Air!
SPRTV and KUNC are happy to report that our engineers restored KUNC back on the air in Summit County this afternoon!
Turns out the extra weight of recent heavy, wet snow caused a critical antenna to move; and the resulting misalignment caused the broadcast signal to disappear.
SPRTV again apologizes for any inconvenience over the last several days, would like to thank all our KUNC listeners for their patience.
We’d also like to take the opportunity to remind everyone that you can always stream KUNC’s programming online, or via KUNC’s mobile apps for iPhone/iPad or Android devices.
And in Summit County, you may also listen to KUNC as the background audio stream on SCTV, Channel 22 via Comcast Cable.
Enjoy!
KUNC Off The Air in Summit County (Update)
Recent storms in Summit County have temporarily knocked the KUNC (FM 88.3) translator off the air. Consequently, when you try to listen to KUNC over the air in Summit County, you’ll likely hear nothing, or some very quiet static.
Our engineers and technical experts are working to get KUNC back on the air in Summit County as soon as possible.
In the meantime, you can stream KUNC’s programming online, or via KUNC’s mobile apps for iPhone/iPad or Android devices.
In Summit County, you may also listen to KUNC as the background audio stream on SCTV, Channel 22 via Comcast Cable.
SPRTV apologizes for any inconvenience, would like to thank all our KUNC listeners for their patience until service can be restored.
