Summit Public Radio & TV is a great example of a “Social Enterprise.” Even as a non-profit organization, we generate income to support our mission from sources other than donations and grants – mostly by leasing space on our antenna towers to commercial communication businesses.
Steve Smith, one of our board members, will be appearing on a panel at the Wednesday, March 9, 2011 Our Future Summit monthly meeting. The topic of the forum is “Social Enterprise: Applying innovative business models and risk capital to solve social problems.” The forum is scheduled from 7:00 to 9:00 pm at the Summit County Community & Senior Center in Frisco.
Also on the panel will be Rick Zwetsch, of interSector Partners in Denver, one of the leading experts on the use of business-like revenue models in the non-profit world and and a pioneer in the use of the L3C business form.
There will also be panelists from both the non-profit and and for-profit worlds providing examples of social enterprises.
The public, including members and followers of SPRTV, is invited. It should be an informative and lively discussion.
